Capone Lab
Hello and welcome to the Capone Lab at Indiana University-Bloomington. We are based in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the School of Public Health, a dynamic and rapidly growing school of public health. Using tools from engineering, epidemiology, and environmental microbiology we investigate the problems affecting low-income individuals and aim to improve public health in the communities where these people live. Our research focuses on the three pillars of public health engineering: (1) public health surveillance using fecal waste streams; (2) assessing the fate and transport of fecal contamination in the environment; and (3) predicting public health outcomes using quantitative microbial risk assessment.
